In October 1925, New York City received its first introduction
to
professional football. When the Giants entered the famed Polo Grounds
to play the Frankford Yellow Jackets, it was a humiliating debut for
the city and for the team as the Giants lost 14-0. Adding to their 0-3
record for road games, the team’s future prospects appeared bleak. For
the most part, the rough years continued thru the 1930's.
After the war years, talent and determination came to the fore
and
the Giants battled their way to three championship games in the 1940's

By the 1950's, the team’s roster featured such legendary
heroes as
Kyle Rote, Eddie Price, Rosie Brown, Frank Gifford, Sam Huff and Tom
Landry.
The Giants thus far have nine members enshrined in the Pro
Football
Hall of Fame: Tackle Roosevelt Brown, Half back/ Flanker Frank Gifford,
Halfback/ Fullback Alphonse (Tuffy) Leemans, End Morris (Red) Badgro,
Linebacker Sam Huff, Defensive Tackle Arnold Weinmeister, Coach Tom
Landry, Co-owner Wellington Mara and Linebacker Lawrence Taylor.
