Coach Ted Marchibroda was hired to coach a veteran team that had already played as a unit. The popular Marchibroda was Head Coach of the Baltimore Colts from 1975 to 1979 and well known to Baltimore fans.

The Ravens wasted no time in earning their first franchise win. In their inaugural regular season game, the Ravens defeated the Oakland Raiders 19-14 on September 1, 1996. In 1999, long-time Assistant Coach Brian Billick was hired to take over as the Ravens new coach under Coach Billick. The Ravens, a team that allowed the fewest amount of points during a season in NFL history, romped to a sensational 34-7 victory over the New York Giants in Superbowl XXXV on January 28, 2001.

As of now, Ravens Coach Brian Billick says the picture of available players is slowly coming into focus. Unfortunately, the Ravens have little control - even over their own players - since contracts expire March 1st., 2005.
